HAPPY HAPPY CHRISTMAS 2010!

We had plenty of fun during the festive month of December!  First up...Birch Aquarium Members' Open House!  ( all taken with crappy 3g iphone...Santa pics were just too blurry!)  The kids made this picture frame craft, got to see Santa, devoured yummy cookies & cakes & hot chocolate, then we walked through the aquarium to see the fishies!

Next up...we drove over to the San Diego Temple to see the lights and the new nativity statues.  So beautiful.

Chance wanted to do this pic, looks as if he is holding up the Statue Moroni!
And after all the fun???  The Dukes was passed out!  Here are pics of the stages of getting him undressed/dressed again!  So funny this kid!

Originally, we were going to spend the holidays in Portland and Seattle.  However, due to unexpected expenses we had to cancel our trip!  boo hoo!  And since we were going to be gone over Christmas we hadn't planned on getting a tree...but when plans changed the boys and I went shoppin'!  It was a perfectly misty and foggy night at the Christmas Tree lot, and the white lights shone in the fog beautifully!  The kids had fun running up and down the aisles of trees!
And here's the winner the boys picked out!  Tip:  the closer to Christmas you buy a tree, the more of a discount you can get!
The nice boy working the lot tied the tree to our van and the kids thought this was so cool...funny!
Messin' around at REI...they thought they were oh so clever and funny posing for this pic!
Finally, Timmy and I got to spend some time together!  This pic is from a Christmas Party at the Dustins' in our ward.  They have a huge Christmas shin-dig every year and it is always a blast!  We do white elephant gifts and all and they always have slide shows of pics of past parties from years previous flashing across their TV and the several iMacs they have throughout the house!  So fun!
The boys sooooo wanted to do gingerbread cookies!  No, I didn't make these-got 'em at Trader Joe's!  I DID make the delicious buttercream frosting though!
Since Luke was playing soccer at this time, he made a soccer player with the #1 on his jersey!  Go Lukie!!!!!!!
And, munch time!  They thought it was hilarious that they were eating the various body parts of their 'men'!
And Chancie Boy decorated a football player, of course!  He used SOOOOO much frosting!  He actually got a tummy ache after eating only a few bites!
 Where are my legs?????  AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
I made 'treat plates' to hand out to friends and teachers...haven't done this in YEARS and I thoroughly enjoyed all the time baking up these yummy treats in the kitchen!
Christmas Eve tradition since moving to Carlsbad:  Chinese Food for Christmas Eve dinner!
And since meeting our good friends the McCunes (who had the same tradition!) we have gone to dinner together and it has been a lovely tradition for us!  Above are the kiddos dipping into their various items in their appetizer!
Sweet Sienna chowin' and gnawin' on a steak skewer!  (Sienna is a year younger than Luke)
Chancers and Haven (I think I have mentioned before, but these girls are betrothed to our girls....teeheehee!)
Me and the love of my life!

 Beautiful Stefani and Mark

I think 'restaurant time' is over!
After Chinese Food, we always go home and make cookies for Santa and open one gift, our new Christmas jammies!  No pics...boooooooo
Christmas morning....Timmy got cufflinks in his stocking!
This was certainly a LEGO Christmas in the Horton house!  So much fun, but such an incredible mess!!!

Chance opening his 'big' present!
He collapsed on the floor in shock from the pure excitement!
REAL football pads!!!  and real football pants!!!  He was on cloud 9!!!!
More LEGOs!!!

So funny he put the pants on over his pajama pants...
Action shot of Pixie playing with her new Rudolph toy Santa brought her!
And the coveted LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 PS3 game!!!  Oh my goodness they were THRILLED that Nanny got this!

Chance has always LOVED nutcrackers...and this football nutcracker was PERFECT for him!

You have NOOOOOO idea the effort that was put in to finding this darn Harry Potter LEGO Castle!  It had like 1200 pieces or something like that!

And Chance got The Burrow LEGO set (from Harry Potter)...LEGO and HARRY POTTER!!!!!

Cool hats dudes!
So here is the football player all geared up...barefoot that is!

This kid is sooooo crazy about sports!  It's hilarious...he eats breathes sleeps sports!  (oh, and Lego, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Pirates, too!)
Christmas afternoon mess...
Playing the new HP game...

Working on the HP Castle!
almost halfway done!  Luke got this Brasil soccer jersey for Christmas...he says it's his most bestus shirt!
Even though we weren't supposed to get each other gifts, Tim of course broke the rules.  He got me this lovely framed picture of Joseph Smith in the Sacred Grove.  I LOVE it!  Thanks honey!  He also got me (our house) a decent (VERY decent) set of knives-1st I have ever had!  Oh, and a new marble Christus to show of  on my piano...so beautiful!  I love you babe!

More of the castle.  It really is quite intricate and very cool.  I had fun helping Luke build it...the 1st time he has really needed help with a Lego set.

I think this post breaks the record for the longest post EVER. It was great to get a Christmas recap though!
