Summer fun! 2011

A favorite is Balboa Park in San Diego.  There are so many museums and the boys especially love the Rueben H. Fleet Science Center.

This was huge for Chance to climb to the top - he normally is fearful of being too far off the ground unless suspended in something.  Good job Chance!

Luke was climbing so fast and everywhere that it was difficult for me to get a picture of him!  It was sooooo crowded too.

I thought this was hilarious.  This is a measuring wall to measure your arm width against your height.  Adults should be the same.  Chance's arm width was wider than his height-he has some growing to do!  And Luke's was opposite!  So funny.

We paid extra to go see the IMAX movie about Wildlife Orphans-it was very interesting and the boys loved watching it.

The following pictures are when Chance took the camera from me....

???

I took this pic of these 3 girls sitting on this bench all on their phones...classic.
We walked around Balboa Park for a bit until we got too tired - it was a pretty warm day too.
There were these huge lilypads on this pond next to this massive historic aviary.
Over the summer we put our local annual passes to good use!  We went to Birch Scripps Aquarium a number of times - the boys never get tired of going there!  And they LOVE this water/boat racing thingie (below)...I sat for almost an hour while they played and played with it...

We also went to the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.  Here are pics from the Zoo...classic Horton boy style above!
The Komodo Dragon was right up on the glass and MOVING!  It was so crazy cuz he is usually like a statue and never up on the glass so close.  The boys LOVED this!

 Awe...the Koalas...always a favorite!

Seriously Luke - is it so difficult to give a normal face for a good picture!?
Through the summer the zoo has all sorts of special things going on - above was a band called "The Robots" and they sang cool 60's style-slash-Jellyfish music and they moved and looked and acted like robots.  They were fun to watch!

Hippos!  We have never seen the hippos up and moving around out of the water - they are so huge!  And these are the regular ones - not the pigmy ones!

 GO-RIL-LA!!!!

Chance took the camera and took a BUNCH of pics in the aviary.  Here are a few...

One day Daddy met us after work!
